Why the ES Academy?

ES Language Services and Consulting Trade Inc. was the first real-terms localization company founded in Turkey. Since its inception, the company has always looked for solutions for the scarcity of experienced translators for localization and the need for special training in the sector. It goes without saying that this training can only be made possible through workshops where real work is done in addition to information provided regarding the work. To respond to this necessity, ES Language Services founded the ES Translation Academy (ESTA). ESTA provides foundation training that teaches participants how to produce translation for specific topics, rather than just translation training.

Who can attend?

ESTA is a unique project that is about to complete its fourth course. Because of the high demand for places, only those who can speak English may attend the ESTA. We are looking for formally trained English translators and interpreters, English language department graduates or high-level English and Turkish speakers with expertise in any subject and who want to work as translators.

There are only 14 places in the fifth course. Therefore, applicants will undergo a selection test that includes four parts and should take about 1.5 hour to complete. This examination covers English, Turkish, basic computer knowledge and general aptitude to which the ES Academy attaches greater importance than other parts of the test in order to assess rapid perception and analytical thinking.

Training process and the fields of training

A new model was developed by considering the high demand for places and participants’ needs. Participants will receive training in localization projects, tools and software, batch processing, reporting, follow-up processes and systems, translation process completion and quality control, communications and human relations, translators’ financial and legal obligations, basic information on other sectors and terminology. In addition, language experts will evaluate sample work done by attendees, who will be provided with feedback.

Is there a fee to attend the ES Translation Academy?

There is a cost to attend the ES Translation Academy. If participants wish, however, they can cover that fee by translating a specific amount of words within six months following the end of the program. Other options for participants who successfully complete the process include working with ES Language Services and Consulting Trade Inc. with a job guarantee through mutual agreement.

Legal obligations

A contract will be drawn up with successful applicants who pass the ES Translation Academy test before training begins. This contract includes the training period, confidentiality agreement, intellectual property rights, competition rules, parties’ operations and obligations, unit prices, training fee and payment terms, general provisions, and penalty clauses.

Other information

If you need more information about ESTA , you can attend an introductory meeting at ES Language Services’ office from 14:00 until 16:00 on certain dates. You can take an application evaluation test following the meeting if you want to go further. Tests can be taken at a different time by appointment only.
